Fashion Week S/S ’18: The Best Makeup Trends!

Glitter, dewy skin and black eyeliner were the common makeup trends across the globe at Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2018.  While all the trends are beautiful to look at, the best are those we can take to the streets. Check out the look makeup artist Hung Vanngo created here on Selena Gomez for the Coach show.  I spy three trends here; Jason Wu, Derek Lam and DVF.  Read on to see these trends and more.

At NYFW, a touch of green/gold glitter was swept across
the eyelid at Derek Lam while lips were plumped with petal pinks.  How to get the look:  try Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in Midnight Cowboy on eyes and Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Pink & Proper on lips.

At Alexander Wang, it was all about enhancing the models natural beauty. Fresh dewy skin and natural lips were on point. How to get the look:  try Marc Jacobs Glow Stick Illuminator Highlighter on cheekbones, bridge of nose and cupid’s bow and fill in lips with Pat McGrath’s Perma Gel Ultra Lip Pencil in Done Undone for the perfect matte pout.

It was graphic liner and red lips at DVF. A steady hand and the right products are all you need to recreate these looks.  How to get the look:  try Lancome Grandiose Liner in Jet Black on eyes and Dior Rouge Dior Lipstick in 999 Matte Red on lips. Keep it modern and skip the lip liner.

At LFW, Tommy Hilfiger was all the buzz. An exaggerated cat eye was paired with a satiny mauve rose lip. How to get the look:  try Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Black Waterproof Black Cream Eyeshadow on eyes and Chanel’s Le Rouge Crayon De Couleur in Rose Violine on lips.

At MFW, a soft, smoky eye and creamy nude lip were spotted at Versace. Mother, Pat McGrath, makes this look easy and it actually is.  How to get the look:  try Natasha Denona’s 5 Eyeshadow Pallette in #04 using Cool Bronze on the lid and Cool Plum in the crease and outer corners.  On lips use what Pat used, Pat McGrath’s Lust Luxetrance Lipstick in Donatella.

It was mint green eyes paired with a pale peach lip at Missoni.  One of my favorite looks for Spring!  How to get the look:  try Tarte’s Clay Pot Waterproof Liner in Mint applied all over the lid, extending outward into a bold cat eye and blot lips with MAC’s Nicki’s Nude by Nicki Minaj.

For Tod’s, it was pink everything.  A wash of galactic pink shimmer on lids paired with the prettiest pink pout.  How to get the look:  try L’Oreal’s Infallible Galaxy Stick in Cosmic Pink on eyes and L’Oreal Color Riche Lipcolour in Tickled Pink on lips.

At PFW, it was glossy skin and bright fuchsia lips at Maison Margiela.  How to get the look:  try Guerlain L’Or Pure Radiance Face Primer under your foundation and skip the powder.  Add a touch of Pure Radiance to the bridge of your nose on top of your foundation for maximum shine.  Use Pat McGrath’s Lust Mattetrance Lipstick in Full Panic on lips.

Mega spider lashes were spotted at Dior with natural skin and a dab of lip balm. How to get the look:  try L’Oréal Voluminous Superstar Mascara in black. Apply base first to pump up the volume before applying four or five coats of the black on top.  Splurge and treat yourself to my favorite lip balm, Chanel’s Hydra Beauty Nourishing Lip Care

Au naturel all day at Balmain & Isabel Marant.  How to get the looks:  keep foundation and contouring fresh. On light to medium skin tones, lightly contour with cool taupes. On darker skin tones, stick with cool muddy browns.  Save the warmer tones for bronzing.  On lips try YSL Volupte Tint-In-Balm in Dream Me Nude.

At Alexander McQueen, it was all about slept-in smudgy eyeliner and sexy skin.  How to get the look:  try Cle de Peau’s Ombre Cream Solo in Smoky Soot Black applied haphazardly and smudged with a q-tip moistened with eye cream.  For sexy skin apply a healthy dose of my favorite moisturizer, Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream, until damp to the touch.

And lastly, a trend you can take to the streets (with a side of balls.)  The look at Chanel.  THIS is the art of makeup.  A modern day Cleopatra, if you will.  How to get the look:  use Chanel’s Les 4 Ombres in #244 Tisse Jazz.  Apply the royal blue shade all over lid and at inner corners.  Smudge the same color along the bottom lash line midway through outer edge.  Apply the aqua blue shade at top and bottom outer corners, extending outward towards temples.  Apply the black with a smudge brush on top and lower lash lines from the center of the eye towards the outer corners.  Add the white to the inner lower lash line towards nose and apply wet to inner waterline. On cheeks, apply Joues Contraste Powder Blush in #69 Fleur de Lotus and on lips, apply Rouge Coco Gloss in #736 Douceur.

I hope you enjoy these trends as much as I do.  I would love to see pics of you recreating these looks. Tag @mariapecoraromakeup with your best recreations on Instagram.
